Italy Foils Alleged Russian Cyber Attacks Ahead of Winter Olympics
Italy claimed that it stopped cyber attacks by Russia before the beginning of Winter Olympics. These attacks were targeting Olympic-related websites and hotels in the host town Cortina d’Ampezzo. The attacks also targeted Italian foreign ministry systems, including an embassy in Washington.
Due to the war with Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are banned from the Olympics, still some players are allowed to compete as neutral participants. There is a debate going on about the future participation of Russia in international games.
